Today seemed like a much calmer day to me, maybe because I didn't have 15 new people coming in and out introducing themselves and all asking me the same questions over and over. Maybe it's because Day 2 of my headache isn't as bad as yesterday. Or maybe it's because I got to have my morning coffee and remembered to eat before noon. All good arguments. :)
Nathan has slept a lot today. He had a rough night with lots of seizures and I think he's worn out. Yesterday afternoon he was put on a 24 hour video EEG which was uncomfortable and made it difficult to move him around. But this afternoon he was finished with the study, so he's feeling a little better, I think. Who would feel good with 25 electrodes glued, taped and wrapped around their head? We're also starting new seizure medication tonight.
We had a hopeful report from the cardiologist today. It seems that several docs in the cardiology group here think it's possible that the steroids Nathan has been on for his seizures are the cause of his current heart problems. This is hopeful in that it's the only scenario where his heart can go back to normal and not be permanently damaged. He's taking a beta blocker / antiarrhythmic medication for now that needs to be monitored, so we expect to be in the hospital for at least a couple more days. Barring any unforeseen events, we can go home shortly and just keep monitoring his heart regularly.
Thank you so much for praying!!!
