Testing Testing

For a baby who would eat anything, this little girl has a severely limited diet. Over the past year the circle of different foods she will eat, or even try has been really shrinking. So... To combat this before it becomes a lifelong habit we have started using a food chart. When Hannah tries a new food (at least a couple of normal sized bites) she gets to put a sticker on her food chart and rates the food as to whether she liked or did not like the taste and texture. After filling up the 10 spaces on her chart, she gets a small prize (currently a small princess prize seems to be all the motivation she needs).

In an attempt to get her to try eating salad (okay, just lettuce at this point) we did a taste test. Who knew what a hit it would be!? You can see from the picture above that she has three different salad dressings on her yellow plate to choose from. She ended up liking all of them and eating most of her salad. I think it made eating a new vegetable more of a game than a requirement - always better! We'll be doing more taste testing around here!!!
