Ephesians 4

Another Saturday morning, another great time of studying the Bible together! This week we talked about Ephesians chapter 4. Here are the highlights:

vs 2-6

*walking with lowliness, gentleness, longsuffering, bearing with one another in love - - -it's a relief, epecially as women, to identify with Christ in this way

*keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace - - - for example, in disagreements or problems with one another - it's good to remember that we are all one Body, have one Spirit, so be gentle, humble, longsuffering

*one Body and one Spirit - - - remember that the enemy wants to divide us - resist him!

vs 7-16

*grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift - - - not according to us or our worth, how we're doing, how we're feeling, etc.

*He Himself gave some to be apostle, prophets, etc. - - - we don't choose what we want to be - He has already done it

*He has given each one different gifts for the equipping of the saints

*until we all come to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God - - - doesn't that sound great!? This is His goal.

*so that we won't be tricked

*by speaking the truth in love we grow up in all things into Him (the Head)

vs 17-32

*put off the old man which grows corrupt & be renewed

*put on the new man which was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness

*lists practical ways to do this: stop lying, don't sin when you're angry, stop stealing, don't let corrupt words come out of your mouth, don't grieve the Holy Spirit, put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor & evil speaking

*speak "what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers"

*God has given us so much grace, but we also get to impart grace to others
